Homechoice is a new scheme in which the local authority and housing associations work in partnership to improve customer choice in obtaining rented accommodation.
This is a new way of finding a home to rent giving you more choice about where you want to live. Available properties will be advertised and once you are registered with Nene Valley Homechoice you can make a bid on properties you are interested in that are suitable for your household.
The benefits of Nene Valley Homechoice include:
- You play an active role in finding a property suitable for your needs in an area you would like to live in rather than us choosing a property for you;
- Homechoice is a clearer and simpler system for people to understand than the old points system;
- We can also give you information on other housing options you might like to consider eg. shared ownership;
- We hope to extend the scheme to include private landlords to maximise your chances of finding alternative housing;
- We can provide advice and information about schemes to help you find suitable private rented properties.
